FOUNDATIONS OF VISUAL COMMUNICATION DESIGN

Welcome to the study of the basic computer operating systems and the principles and practices of graphic production for digital and interactive media. We focus on tools and techniques used to create graphic content for diverse media delivery systems.

OVERVIEW

Who am I? That is the question I always asked myself at the beginning of my college career. I was not familiar with Adobe Photoshop at this point in my creative journey but through this exercise I found myself feeling confident both in myself and my abilities. As a class we were asked to include images we took ourselves and incorporate them into a graphic that best represents us.

FINAL DELIVERABLE

Written

portion

Time is something I've always understood but never grasped. The concept of time is where I source my creativity because it only matters if you make it matter. It can be anything while also being nothing. I like to think I live my life both inside and outside of time almost as if my head were right below the clouds. Often, I am still amidst chaos while my mind runs in circles. It wasn’t always this way. I used to be at peace. I’ve learned it's better though conflicting to be exactly who you are even if you can't grasp it. Because of this, just like a clock, I see the world for face value. In a literal sense, I take things for what they are, except for time. I use time to compensate for the things I can’t fully understand. Is the glass half full or is it half empty? Am I escaping this mess or am I just waiting for it to catch up? What does it feel like to truly be free of worry? As I am re-finding my peace in what interests me, I realize making anything matter is a choice and it is best to see life from both sides. Being able to grasp something like life isn't dependent on just how you view things but instead can be temporarily understood by the quote

“it’s only a matter of time.” until you find peace in the unknown. Make your brokenness your freedom.

REFLECTION

Throughout this project I was able to strengthen my skills in Adobe Photoshop and learn the fundamentals of masking, color correction, and overlays. I think this piece reflects who I was and is nice to look back on as someone who has grown tremendously.
